06. July 2005 A visitor from
Switzerland on Skogn Airfield.
Emil Röllin from Freienwit in Switzerland is currently touring
Norway in his 49 years old Cessna 170B. His goal is to visit as many of
the airports and airfields in our country.
He litteraly came out of the blue around nine in the evening Wednesday
06.June.2005. Tore
Grøneng was doing Preflight check on his Atec when we heared the
humm from a light aircraft overhead. A Cessna 170B taildragger made a
crosswind in 1000 feet before it flew the landing pattern and made a
perfect three point landing. A smiling Swiss gentleman climbed out of
the aircraft.

Here is Emil Röllin sitting on the left mainwheel, talking with
the airport cat.
We had a long chat with Emil. He is now retieredand is using the summer
to tour Norway with his airplane. We were really impressed with how
many of the big and small airfields and smaller strips he had visited
so far. Earlier on the same day he had visited
Oyan, Breivika, Statsbygd, Henning, Snasa og Gaundalen.
He had also made low passes over Formofoss og Stor Amdal, but didn't
take the risk landing there. In fact several of our members have not
visited all those airfields yet!

Emil Röllin
He had ferried the airplane himself from Canada i 1997. He flew
via New Foundland, Greenland and Iceland. The airplane is a
1956 Cessna 170B taildragger. Despite it was 49 years old it was
so flawless it almost looked new.
He told us he washed the airplane every morning at 06:00. Behind the
seats he had placed a madrass so he could sleep in it.

This is the first light aircraft to land on Skogn
Airfield. Until now it has only been microlights. Since the light
aircraft was from another country, we can now call it "Skogn
International Airport".
Emil didn't have time to stay longer. There were still more airfields
to visit.

Running up the engine before take off.

He used less than half the strip to take off.
He made one pass over the airfield before he headed for Oyan in Meraker.
Its people like Emil Röllin that make us realise what a wonderful
hobby flying is. Just fly around exploring new places and airfields.
And a great opportunity to meet new friends.
