What is a microlight?

Microlights are the lighthest class of airplanes.
The maximum take of weight (MTOW) for single seated aircrafts is 300 kg and for two seated aircrafts 450 kg.
(With a rescue parachute installed the MTOW can be increased by 5%)
Microlights can not have more than two seats.
Stall speed must not exceed 65 km/t. That insures that the take off and landingspeed is low.
There are two different classes of microlight aircraft, flexwing that is controlled by shifting the weight just like a hangglider, and three axis that is controlled just like big airplanes.

Flying an microlight aircraft is the easiest and inexpensive way to becoming an pilot in your own aircraft.

Here in Norway you have to be a member of the Norwegian Aero Club (NAK) to fly an Microlight. NAK have been given the authority to administer the microlight activity in Norway.

If you want to know more about microlight flying in Norway, you can call NAK on phone (+47) 23 01 04 50 or fax (+47) 23 01 04 51
